S is for "sorry". Paige learned how to say "I'm sorry" yesterday. She's been poked and taped and squeezed so many times. Since everyone tells her "I'm sorry" I guess she picked it up.

W is for "we were going to shampoo that carpet anyway." We love our doggies....and we have had people stopping in to feed and water them...they are a little freaked out though that we haven't really been home. I stopped in today to find many, many, many potty stains on the floor. Sigh.

I is for "It smells like poop in here". Paige got a sponge bath this afternoon. We rubbed her down with baby magic lotion, combed out her silky baby mullet, and Kim (her nurse) got her some fresh new bedding. I walked down to the toy room and grabbed a few more books for Paige to read before bed. When I came back into the room I looked at Mike and said "it smells like poop in here..." And let me tell you, it was quite a poop. It had sneaked out of the diaper and onto the sheets, the toys, her hands, the cords attached to her toe....I swear I was gone for 2 minutes max! The worst part was asking the nurse for NEW new bedding and knowing she would have to weigh the offending nappie. Sorry Ashley!

N is for "not going home anytime soon". The attending we talked to today assured us we wouldn't go home until Paige could maintain healthy stats for at least 24 hours. While she is getting better and better each day, she still needs oxygen while she sleeps. So....when she goes to sleep we hold our breath. Alarms sounding means we know we will her ANOTHER night. Since she need oxygen during her nap today, we can only assume she'll struggle tonight. That puts us at Thursday am at the earliest. If she has alarms again tomorrow that will put us to Friday at the earliest...you get the drift. The good news is we will definitely be here for the Turtle Derby! The bad news is Paige isn't allowed to participate per hospitals orders! We can watch the festivities on TV I think. They want us to have pictures taken tomorrow to put on our badges since we will be here so long. Sigh. I want her to come home HEALTHY, but I want to come home soon too.

E is for "everyone has been very thoughtful" We've gotten lots of words of encouragement on the blog, facebook, e-mail and phone calls. Since we really are quarantined to the room...seriously....its nice to know that people on the outside are thinking about us. We would love visitors but don't want anyone who is....er...older, sick, pregnant, around little kids, or who mind wearing a mask to come. If you DO want to visit we would LOVE it! Paige is feeling well enough to get bored and we are running on fumes! One of us needs to be in the room at all times and we are trying to stay the rest of the week with 2 days of supplies. Let us know if you want to stop by....don't worry about bringing flowers or balloons...bring TV dinners and caffeine. I cooked up a delicious Swanson Fried Chicken (MILK FREE NO LESS!) and Paige ended up eating half of it :) You'll have to wear a mask and wash hands. You don't need a hazmat suit, and you won't need to be decontaminated in a special shower or anything....unless you want to....

F is for "fun with tape" The adhesive industry is safe from the recession based on the amount of tape we use in this room alone. Page has tape on her cheek, nose and back for the NG tube. She has 3 different kinds of tape on her IV and we've used about a mile of tape to hold the glowing red light to her toe. She still has residue from the leads that were on her from last Friday. She also has a huge "burn" on her chest where one of the nurses had the bright idea to rip a lead off as fast as she could.

L is for "leave it alone" Paige is a toddler AND she has at least 3 tubes attached to her at all times. There are 30,000 buttons on things within arms reach. She tugs and twists and fiddles with EVERYTHING. She is SOOO antsy but hasn't been allowed out of her crib. There is a possibility that she will be allowed out tomorrow, but even then, she needs to stay in our room. If we can get her to keep a surgical mask on, we may be able to walk her around in a wagon....if the infectious disease control lady backs off.

U is for "unknowns" We haven't heard back about Paige's biopsy yet...I was hoping Dr. Sudel would call or stop by since we are here. We also don't know "for-sure" that Paige is positive for the "flu that is not to be named" but the doctors here say it is very PROBABLE and are saying things like "her case of H1N1" and "Sometimes things like swine flu can be..." I was trying to be discreet in previous posts on this blog and facebook, but I think I only caused confusion. I think, oink, this post, oink, is a little less, oink, subtle don't you?

After I posted my duh! and clueless! message on Facebook I read your blog and was kinda embarassed for myself. You only caused confusion for the "I am on summer break and need to shake the brain back into function" friends. Oh well...

The "I'm Sorry" part kills me, that poor little girl.
