Paige's First Ride In An Ambulance

Saturday night...
After coming home from Urgent Care Paige continued to have trouble breathing. When Mike came home from work the decision was made to bring her to University Children's Hospital ER. Doctors there didn't think Paige needed to be admitted so she was sent home.

Sunday morning...
Paige was still not improving so this time Jenny and Mike brought her to Unity ER. Doctor's were concerned because Paige had a high heart rate and wasn't getting enough oxygen. Was given an Albuterol neb which helped with oxygenation but the down side is that this type of medication increases the heart rate even more. Doctors were debating whether or not Paige should be put on a ventilator (breathing machine) in order to be stable enough to be transported to Children's Hospital. Thankfully, with the help of a little oxygen Paige was able to keep her oxygen levels high enough to be transferred without another tube. Jenny and Paige then took their first , and hopefully last, ride in an ambulance together to yet another hospital.

Sunday afternoon...
Paige has been admitted to the ICU at Children's Hospital and is more comfortable than she was earlier in the day. She has an IV and is asking for food but unfortunately they won't let her eat just yet. Most likely they will re-insert her feeding tube tonight. It is uncertain as of right now how long Paige will need to be in the hospital.

FYI...
No, Jenny and Mike haven't decided to start writing blogs in the third person. The update is coming from Paige's Uncle Ben and Aunt Katie. We are hoping and praying that our sweet, cute, and loveable neice will be home very shortly.
